Is there a workaround for the checkmark (also star, diamond, cross, etc) not displaying in Apple Preview or when viewed on an iPhone. I

can confirm that the checkmark character does display in Adobe Acrobat Reader and when viewed through Google's PDF engine in Gmail.

Would changing the font help? Currently I'm using the default Noto-sans-regular, but I don't know if the checkbox characters are part of that font or independent.

Is there any way to have the characters 'burned into' the PDF?

Hi,

We suppose that you are using not flattened PDF. If you do not need PDF to be editable, try to set please "Flatten" option to "Yes". See please screenshot attached.

P.S. "Generate appearance" check also must be set (by default).
