Hi,

I need this so badly, hopefully its possible:

I have a PDF which is so complex and bulky (Excell like with very small numerous cells) and parts where data is entered at the top of the table and bottom. I have created a gravity FORM with corresponding top and bottom info and mapped those, but I can't or create form fields for hundreds of cells in the PDF excell-like table. Is it possible to pass data to mapped filleds and also be able to manually fill the PDF in the cells and save this PDF in the system for future usage?

I know I can pass data from the form to the pdf, BUT can I fill the PDF manually and save it for future retrieval?

Thanks!
Philip.

Hi,

If I understand correctly your question: You have prepared PDF document with some data and you need to add there some other information from Gravity Form. If so, you can just use "Pre-Uploaded" PDF (screenshot attached). In this case PDF will save its structure and you will be able to add information to any part of this uploaded PDF. You can test it with any 1 paged PDF with "FREE" version.

Manual text also can be added via "HTML" object or to any PDF fields.

P.S. If we have misunderstanding the task, it will be very helpful if you will attach some screenshots with examples how PDF must be modified and explain needed process "step by step". Thank you.

Hi again,

I have so many templates, I'm using 10 templates package, but in simple, the question is: Instead of viewing the gravity form and filling it in, can I view the PDF and fill in the PDF directly on frontend, then save it for future use?

Hi,

You can fill it manually only via "backend": "E2Pdf" -> "Templates" -> "Edit". On "Preview" or "View Saved" you can download this PDF. Filled static text will remain the same and will not be truncated. After this you can just use [e2pdf-download] shortcode with valid static dataset to show same PDF to all users.

Another solution is to prepare PDF with any PDF Editor on your PC, upload it to server and use shortcode: [e2pdf-download pdf="/home/pdfs/document.pdf"].

On "frontend", unfortunately, it not possible to show PDF and allow users directly to fill it up. It must be downloaded and filled manually with PDF editor.

Hi again, now you understand my need. Its exactly this: "On "frontend", unfortunately, it not possible to show PDF and allow users directly to fill it up." Can it be an extra feature I pay for, to be able to show a blank PDF on frontend and have it filled and saved back into the website for future re-editing or retrieval? Thank you sir!!

We have another similar request and it's already in our road map, but it will not be "real" PDF filling. Due the structure of PDF it's just not possible to accomplish at this moment. We plan to add it in similar way as when you edit currently Template in backend.

Unfortunately I can't tell you any approximate time when this feature will be released due the complex of task and due other more priority points in our road map.

P.S. I moved your thread to "Feature Requests", so when we will add this feature, we will update this thread to notify you.

That will be awesome. Thank you so much for this. I will standby for the feature.

Kind regards,
Philip.

I found this thread... so what about Gravity Forms... could it be used with https://gravitywiz.com/documentation/gravity-forms-preview-submission/ to show the PDF preview to avoid actually submitting the form until it looks correct to them?

Hi,

E2Pdf was not tested with Gravity Wiz forms preview, however it seems not compatible at this moment as E2Pdf requires entry id to generate PDF.
