Good day!

I just purchased license for 10 templates and am working on preparing my very first form/template. When uploading my PDF files, most files (except the ones I don't need of course) return this error: "exceptions.BadPasswordException: PdfReader not opened with owner password"

These files are NOT password protected and I am stuck! Looking for some help :-)

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

PDFs can have 2 different passwords: "Owner Locked Password" and "User Locked Password". Owner password can be not requested when you view PDF however it can prevent PDF from editing. Unfortunately you will need to remove "Owner Password" before uploading to E2Pdf.

Try to follow the current way:

1. Open the PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and enter the password to unlock the file (if requested).
2. After the file is open, click on the Lock icon on the left and under Security Settings, click on Permission Details.
3. Once you do that, click on Security > set Security Method to No Security and click OK to remove the password.
4. Next, click File > Save.

In Adobe Acrobat, the PDF owner password is called the change permissions password. Depending on the PDF reader or writer you're using you may also see this referred to as the PDF permissions password, restriction password, or PDF master password.

OK thank you for the guidance. I may be biting off more than I can chew here since the forms I am using do not allow me to adjust security method to "No Security"

The only difference in your guidance is I only have Adobe Acrobat DC (not Pro). I am uploading a sample of the form I am trying to use to create my template. Perhaps this will help you see my issue? Thanks for the support!

PDF is locked with "Signature". It can't be uploaded. (Screenshot). The only way you can go is click "Print" -> "To File" -> "PDF". Save PDF and upload to E2Pdf. However in this case you will need to recreate all fields.
